Neither the Europeans nor Ukraine are capable of developing an effective system to counter Russian ballistic missiles, so all that remains is to rely on the United States.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada's subcommittee on state security, defense, and defense innovation, Fedor Venislavsky , announced this on air on the 1+1 channel , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The MP urged against pessimism regarding the US refusal to grant a license to Ukraine or the EU to produce Patriot air defense systems , noting that President Donald Trump has already indicated that he will discuss this matter with American manufacturers.
"I wouldn't say there's no license. It's not there yet, but it could be. It's highly doubtful, but it can't be ruled out," Venislavsky said.
He complains that the US is unwilling to share technologies on which Ukraine is critically dependent. because, apart from the Patriot, there is practically no counter-ballistics in the world.
"Only one system in the world today, the Patriot, is capable of delivering such kinetic destruction. And even then, only the PAC-3, a specialized ballistic missile. Everything else, unfortunately, is just a dream of our European partners, who hope to develop an anti-ballistic missile, and a dream of our private sector, who hope to build one . Let's hope."
