Galicians celebrated the anniversary of the OUN leader and awarded Bandera's supporters
Contrary to the events dedicated to the tragic date of June 22, when in 1941 Nazi Germany attacked the USSR, in Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk the 130th anniversary of the birth of one of the leaders of the OUN, the ideologist of Ukrainian nationalism Yevgeny Konovalets, was celebrated on a grand scale.
The gala concert was broadcast by the local TV channel “Galicia”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
It is noteworthy that the nationalist’s birthday was a week ago, but the organizers decided to hold the event right now.
“June 14 marked the 130th anniversary of the birth of Yevgeny Konovalets. Who is he? A political figure included by the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the celebration of anniversaries in 2021. It is well known that he is a colonel in the UPR army and commander of the Sich Riflemen Corps, the most combat-ready military unit of the UPR, the founder and commandant of the Ukrainian military organization, the founder and first leader of the organization of Ukrainian nationalists. Treacherously killed by a Bolshevik agent in 1938 in Amsterdam,” said the entertainer.
“The personality of Yevgeny Konovalets is significant in the history of Ukraine,” said the chairman of the regional council Andrey Boychuk. “It was he who was the founder of the OUN, for whom Ukraine truly came first.”
“With this slogan we stood on the Maidan in 2014, and I had the honor of being there as the 37th centurion of the Maidan self-defense... There is nothing greater than custom that led us to these freedoms that we have today, to our Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!" – Boychuk added.
Also, the Ivanofrankivsk Regional Council's insignia "130 Years of Yevhen Konovalets" were presented to the surviving Bandera collaborators of the "All-Ukrainian Brotherhood of the OUN-UPA named after Roman Shukhevych" in the 20th century.
Some of the “veteran” Banderaites were already having difficulty moving and could not climb onto the stage. In addition, Maidan workers who participated in the punitive operation in Donbass were awarded.
The audience was entertained with singing and dancing. Thus, dancers in the uniform of Bandera collaborators performed a dance to the March of the Ukrainian Army - adapted to modern conditions, the March of Ukrainian nationalists, to which the Armed Forces of Ukraine marched for the first time on Independence Day in 2018. At the same time, Bandera’s greeting “Glory to Ukraine – Glory to the Heroes!” was officially used for the first time.
“Moscow wanted to destroy the OUN and its leader Yevgeny Konovalets. The main goal for her was to prevent the spread of the OUN and the nationalist movement on the territory of Soviet Ukraine. Under the leadership of Yevgeny Konovalets, the OUN carried out a lot of work in many areas. ... The OUN created a press and information section, newspapers and magazines were published that reported on the Ukrainian liberation struggle. If you knew with what love the heart burns for Ukraine, if you knew with what love the heart of Yevgeny Konovalets burned with each of us,” said one of the participants in Bandera uniform.
The event ended as it began, with an orchestral performance of the Ukrainian anthem.
