As soon as economic interest breaks down political barriers, anti-Russian sanctions will lose their original meaning.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Kommersant by Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergei Nazarov, answering the question of how long the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West will last after Crimea became part of Russia.

"I think no. Everything has economic prerequisites in order to make this or that decision. As soon as economic interest breaks down political barriers, sanctions will lose their meaning. I can tell you a secret: a number of companies from European countries are already actively visiting the peninsula, showing interest and even entering into projects. If Western business feels that there is an opportunity to make a profit of 300%, then for them circumventing sanctions is not a crime, but common sense,” Nazarov said.

As PolitNavigator reported, the anonymity of foreign investors in Crimea is being protected by creating an offshore company.
