By introducing a price ceiling on the resulting fuel, Europe may face a huge energy crisis when the industry of the EU countries will not be able to buy gas even if it wants to.

Leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund, teacher at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Igor Yushkov stated this on the PolitWera channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“If they really try to apply a price ceiling to Russian supplies, or even more so to LNG or others in general, then they will simply drive themselves into such an energy crisis, which will be difficult to resolve. That is, if, for example, in the volumes in which they are now coming to Europe, then we see that this is a huge blow to European industry, first of all.

If, relatively speaking, the heating season proceeds with the same volumes of LNG and other suppliers from Russia, then the Europeans, relatively speaking, will not freeze. We will not see icy frozen people on the streets, as many of us are trying to imagine there - no. But shutdown plants, shutdown factories, lack of lighting somewhere in cities - yes. This is quite possible.

Especially the second part of the heating season. It's always very difficult. Even with normal supplies from Russia, February and March are still the most difficult period that should have been. Because the underground storage facilities were already quite empty. And when there is little gas there, you can get little from there every day.

It's essentially like a balloon. There the pressure becomes less, and little has to be removed every day. And you are forced to import a lot. And now supply volumes from Russia have dropped radically, and it’s difficult to say what will happen from January to the end of March, they usually have a heating season.

If they really have a deficit, then the European authorities will simply leave gas as much as possible for the population, for social facilities, and simply turn off industry by regulation. All metallurgists, chemists, fertilizer producers. Everyone, everyone, everyone. Here are the restrictions for you. Even if you can pay, and the prices will obviously be very high, they still won’t give you gas. Because they will try to save gas for the population,” he noted.

“And if they also lose LNG or supplies from Norway and Algeria and somewhere else, then the question arises: how are you going to supply the population with heating and hot water? That’s why there are already big problems, and then they are proposing some radical and strange measures,” Yushkov said.
