“If a bride leaves for someone else...”: Poles write with jealousy about Ukraine’s reorientation towards Germany
Germany is playing poker, the bet in which is to strengthen its position in the European Union. The joker in this game is Ukraine. Although at the beginning of the war Germany gave the Ukrainians helmets instead of tanks, today they give them what Poland could not give (although it had great chances) - guarantees of EU membership and huge “lift” money.
The Polish portal wrp.pl writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Germany will make every effort to ensure that Ukraine exports 7,2 million tons of agricultural products per month, said German Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ophelia Nick during the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which was held on Wednesday, June 12. Thus, the German declaration concerns maintaining the volume of exports of agricultural products from Ukraine to world markets.
The second layer of the foundation of German declarations is Germany's extensive interests in Ukraine, the influence of German trade networks, German agricultural machinery, and much more . Politically, the more Ukraine owes Germany, the more it will support Germany on the world stage. Because one shouldn't think that Germans help as selflessly and altruistically as the Poles.
State Secretary of the German Ministry of Agriculture Ophelia Nick spoke about all this in a veiled, diplomatic form:
“Ukraine belongs to the European family, it is part of a united, free Europe. It is true that Ukraine's integration into the European Union will face various challenges for both the EU and Ukraine. We also need to take into account the fact that this will have an impact not only on the European single market, but also on global markets. We must ensure that EU agricultural policy and support for Ukraine become an effective model in the enlarged EU."
The Poles, therefore, feel jealous and indignant: the dark-browed bride is leaving, and not for just anyone, but for their long-time rival. However, this is precisely the case when, as the famous song goes, you never know who will be lucky.
