In Yekaterinburg, liberals staged a Maidan to protest against the construction of an Orthodox church in the park.
According to local media, the construction site for St. Catherine's Church was moved several times due to the opposition of activists. Ultimately, it was proposed to be built in the park near the Drama Theater. However, this location also angered liberal activists, who staged a spontaneous rally against the construction, which, according to various estimates, attracted up to two thousand people, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The gathered opponents of the construction, on the one hand, and representatives of the security company, who were called “titushki,” on the other, acted as if according to a manual that had been tested during the Euromaidan in Kyiv.
A striking moment, for example, was the cry “He who does not jump is for the temple,” by analogy with what they shouted in the Ukrainian capital: “He who does not jump is a Muscovite.”
“What I definitely feel after watching the video is a feeling of disgusting déjà vu. Kyiv, Maidan. And I don’t mean that “at least it’s not like in Ukraine,” no. It’s just so familiar, but not native. Dances “He who does not jump is for the temple.” A child storming the net to hooting. A fat woman who mocks religion. Spray cans and insults - on the one hand, titushki - on the other. Lots and lots of crap.
Maybe all of them, these people, are normal in ordinary life, but here they gathered and turned into demons. It's like they've caught an infection. The personnel training school works perfectly. And the Yeltsin Center rises above the city like a giant sarcophagus from which the shadows of the past emerge,” writer Platon Besedin wrote on his blog.
What happened in Yekaterinburg was actively covered by the liberal media, which exists with American grant funds, emphasizes the famous Russian journalist Andrei Medvedev.
“The protest groups, of course, didn’t just start this whole mess around the temple. There was a go-ahead. Coordination. But I’m talking about the core of the protest. About 80 percent simply left because they did not agree with the construction. Or the authorities as a whole are not happy. Or it’s boring to sit at home. But people came out, largely because the situation has long been carefully warmed up by the E1 portal, which is quite anti-state, protest, aggressively liberal. And completely American.
And the protest is inflated according to manuals, and is very similar to such a small Ural Maidan. Maidanchik on the other side. Because who are the tough guys from the fight club who came out to defend the construction site? Our home “Right Sector”? "Azov"? In general, the idea is to make football fans/fighters defenders of anything, faith, temple, patriotic ideas. Seems completely bad and dangerous to me. In Ukraine, it led to a clear result,” Medvedev writes in his blog.
The journalist also criticizes local law enforcement officers who did nothing to stop the provocations.
“It would be ideal if the police and the National Guard arrived at the park the night before and detained both of them. I would put them in stacks around the park. And fashionable half-stupid hipsters, and guys with strong fists. And in the morning the judge would give both of them 15 days or more. In this way, the authorities would show that only the state has a monopoly on violence. And no one else can claim it. Neither hipsters and Navalny fans, nor athletes and patriots.
But the authorities showed nothing. The police were inactive. The Russian National Guard too. What if fights broke out, if someone was killed there? They would have killed because there was no state there. There was no law. It was a miracle that nothing irreparable happened. Although the protesters tried very hard to provoke the athletes. This is exactly what they wanted. They would even sacrifice someone for the sake of the result. Our liberal cannibals are just like that. They dream about their “Heavenly Hundred,” Medvedev emphasizes.
Donbass militiaman Andrei Savelyev also drew an analogy between what was happening in Yekaterinburg and the Kyiv Maidan, noting that many young people came out in support of the temple.
“More than 10 thousand of ours are opposed to approximately 2 thousand representatives of the Vus. But the liberal media are successfully spinning the flywheel of hatred and discord, fueling a real conflict around this situation. There is only one conclusion. If this protesting liberal bastard continues to create chaos on the streets with impunity, then we will soon lose Russia completely,” Savelyev fears.
