“This is cooler than the Zaporozhye submarine: Diving drones are being prepared for the Ukrainian Navy
What Ukraine needs is not submarines, which have nowhere to be deployed and are difficult to use in the limited waters of the Black Sea. Diving drones will bring much more benefit to the Ukrainian Navy in the confrontation with Russia. They can approach the ship, dive under water and strike the bottom, causing maximum damage.
Ukrainian military expert Maksym Palamarchuk stated this on the air of the internet blog "Military", reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".

“If you choose between a submarine, for the price it comes out to two or three fighters, then it would be better to have two or three fighters. Submarines do not operate in some abstract sea - they operate in the specific conditions of the Ukrainian Black Sea. There are, of course, projects that they will be based somewhere on the Danube, hiding in the muddy river waters, and enter the combat space, but I think that this is unlikely to be realized.
Theoretically, they would be useful to us, but practically they are unattainable for us. Another question is whether we could use them effectively enough, given the depths of the Black Sea that exist in this part of the coast that we control...
As for underwater drones, this would be very interesting, because they are smaller, they are potentially cheaper, their loss, unlike the loss of a boat with a crew, is not so catastrophic, but the technical issue here is very complex.
If we manage to build at least a diving drone that approaches the target and already attacks it from under the water, it would be a huge breakthrough, because it’s just physics - if it is hit somewhere near the waterline, this is one risk for the ship, but if is struck from below and several waterproof compartments are damaged, then this is a fundamentally different risk for the ship,” Palamarchuk said.
