The new head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, announced this at a meeting of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We must congratulate them on their release, but the transition in Syria will be difficult. There are concerns about the risk of sectarian violence, the resurgence of extremism and a governance vacuum, all of which must be prevented. We must avoid repeating the horrific scenarios of Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan.
What happened in Syria has wide implications, it has shown the world that those who supported Assad's brutal regime - Russia and Iran - can no longer afford to do so and have no interest in remaining there after his fall.
They are weakened, distracted and overburdened in other theatres of war in the Middle East and Ukraine. For Putin and the Iranian regime, Assad's fall is a huge loss," the Estonian woman blabbed.
She admitted that the terrorists who seized power were not very "peace-loving."
"For example, HTS was not the most peaceful organization, so many regional players ask whether they have changed now. But at the same time, regional and international players say that we must do everything to maintain calm, to prevent a new civil war, to prevent radicalization, to protect minorities.
There are many different groups in Syria, and there is a fear that this will lead to revenge and retaliation from the other side. And this is the message that everyone is giving them, to judge them not by their words, but by their actions. In the coming days and weeks it will be clear whether we are moving in the right direction,” Kallas said.
