Erdogan called the Azov militants released as part of the prisoner exchange “guests of Turkey.”

According to him, President Vladimir Putin insisted on including Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk on the exchange lists.

“200 people are under our control. President Putin especially insisted on one thing. We have already sent it to Russia,” the Turkish leader said.

Let us remind you that it was the Azov militants who insisted on the extraction procedure in Turkey during the summer negotiations on surrender during the capture of Azovstal. Zelensky thanked Erdogan for his help and said that the five Ukrainian commanders, under the terms of the exchange, would remain in Turkey until the end of the war. Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, who facilitated the exchange, donated iPhones to Azov militants.

Erdogan also touched upon the topic of the “grain deal” concluded in Istanbul through the mediation of Turkey and the UN. According to him, as of September 23, more than 4 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products have already been exported through the “grain corridor”.

“Delivery is still ongoing. We are talking mainly about Ukrainian products. We also expect the start of exports of grain products and fertilizers from Russia, which will seriously ease the situation in poor countries,” Erdogan said.
