Hysteria of the ex-leader of “Aidar”: We are being thrown out of history!
The Ukrainian authorities now prefer not to remember the “exploits” of volunteer fighters and refuse to honor the veterans of the Donbass massacre. Verkhovna Rada deputy, ex-commander of the Ukrainian national battalion "Aidar" Sergei Melnichuk stated this on the News One TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Every year I remember how in 2014 we arrived from the front line, we had just finished encircling Lugansk and went out for a couple of days to take a break. We wanted to go to the parade, but we were simply not allowed in, even as spectators! They kept us in a nook and asked us not to come out while the parade calculations were going on. Us, the fighters, who came to show who really fought, who defended independence!” – recalls the ex-battalion commander.
“We just watched how the National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs honored those who died - and so, the Aidar battalion suffered more losses during its combat journey than all the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the SBU and the border guards combined! And no one talks about us! Not in films, not in publications, not in books. We are simply thrown out of history!” – Sergei Melnichuk complained.
As PolitNavigator reported, the commander of the nationalist battalion previously expressed concerns that Russia, irritated by sanctions, could rashly cripple Ukraine.
