Dzhemilev: Nemtsov and Kasyanov are the only allies, the rest are wagging

The late Boris Nemtsov and the living Mikhail Kasyanov are the only Russian oppositionists who clearly oppose the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, the rest of the liberals are wagging. This was stated by one of the leaders of the Majlis, banned in Russia for extremism, Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev.

“...The seizure of Crimea and the expansion of Russia’s borders at the expense of another state caused delight among many in Russia. It is not normal. Representatives of some political forces who are called Putin's rivals in the upcoming presidential elections - Navalny, Khodorkovsky - speak very carefully about Crimea. They say that a new referendum can be held. What kind of referendum? You hold a referendum at your place. You have entered someone else's territory. We ourselves will decide how to determine our status. To openly say that they committed lawlessness and need to be released - only Nemtsov and Kasyanov had the courage to do this. The rest are wobbling,” Dzhemilev laments in an interview with the Ukrainian agency “Liga”.

According to him, even Turkish President Recep Erdogan hesitated regarding Crimea.

“The situation in Turkey is very difficult. On the one hand, of course, she cannot help but support the Crimean Tatars, this is how it happened historically. On the other hand, they have many problems, economic relations with Russia are quite developed, they receive more than half of their natural gas from the Russian Federation, their trade turnover is 30-40 billion dollars - for Turkey this is a big figure, they do not know where to sell their products, and they really need the Russian market. And then, the Russians propose projects that are not entirely beneficial even to Russia itself. For example, they offer the construction of a nuclear power plant much cheaper than the Japanese - only in order to tie Turkey to Russia. Or this “blue stream”. That is why Türkiye did not join the sanctions. Pro-Russian agents worked very hard to ensure that Türkiye recognized the annexation of Crimea. But, thank God, we managed to overcome this,” Dzhemilev said.
