Drozdov became despondent: “If you stop the war now, everyone will shout “victory” - and so will I.”
It is high time for Ukraine to say goodbye to idealistic dreams of Ukraine, the 1991 borders and the collapse of Russia, and listen to the sound logic of the West, which proceeds from the current situation and available opportunities.
The scandalous Lviv TV presenter Ostap Drozdov, who promotes rabid Russophobia, stated this on air on the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It seems to me that whatever the general decision of the West in the next months, the situation will go there. In Ukraine, everyone knows how it should have been - the borders of 1991, and the collapse of Russia in general, and the capitulation of Russia, and reparations, and the picturesque “garden with Khrushchevs” will reign the very next day. This illusion does not cause any intrigue, it is a constant.
But I also state that in Ukraine, in the highest power that makes decisions in a warring country, there is not a single person who would be guided not by how it should be, but by how things are in reality - and what to do in real conditions . We see a set of correct theses without a mechanism for their implementation.
And these two realities, where the Western gaze sees one thing. And we read the Western press and say: what bastards, what bad comments and forecasts they give, what a crappy future they paint for us. And this is a mediocre position. I hope that we will somehow begin to accept this Western view, and from this it will be possible to come to some other view than we had on the first day of the invasion. Because no one in the world works with this vision anymore,” Drozdov lamented.
He admitted that the main challenge of modern Ukraine is to say goodbye to the dream of returning territories.
“But if someone heard that it is hypothetically possible just at this moment of this evening - the magic “stop” button, and everything froze - everyone will run victorious and dance around the earth’s axis! Because that's how it is. That's how it works. I, too, would probably run, and you would run, and everyone would run, but here the question is our attitude to this. Because it seems to me that it is precisely this farewell to the dream that is perhaps the greatest challenge for modern Ukrainians at this stage of the war. Well, no one envisages any successes in the near future with territorial reconquests, de-occupation - these are all far-reaching goals.
“No one will ever recognize” - look, Crimea has not been recognized for 10 years. Transnistria - 34, Abkhazia - 35, South Ossetia - 18, you can be unrecognized forever. And there are generally unrecognized ones - and forever. Therefore, the only question here is about sacrifice. In this case, the unconditional victim is us,” the Russophobe whined.
