Donbass no longer feeds Ukraine
Kyiv, January 19 (PolitNavigator, Oleksandr Semenyuta) – Metallurgical and chemical plants in the Donbass reported production declines ranging from 5% to 95% in 2014. This was reported by the League , citing the Department for Development of Basic Industries of the Donetsk Regional State Administration.

Production of pig iron decreased to 10,1 million tons, which is 21,8% less than in 2013, steel - to 9,6 million tons (25,5% less), commercial rolled products - to 8,9 million tons ( by 24,9% less), steel pipes – up to 317,2 thousand tons (11,2% less), coke – up to 6,5 million tons (30,0% less). The largest drop was shown in the production of mineral fertilizers - by 73,4% and ammonia - by 83,5%.
Due to a coke shortage, Mariupol metallurgical plants were forced to reduce the number of operating units at the end of the week. The Donetsk Electrometallurgical Plant has been mothballed since January 16, 2014.
Currently, there are five coke-chemical plants and the coke-chemical production of OJSC Azovstal Metallurgical Plant operating in the region. Among the refractory and flux mining enterprises, production activities are carried out by the Velikoanadolsky Refractory Plant, the Krasnoarmeysky Dinas Plant, the Chasovoyarsky Refractory Plant, the Novotroitsk Mining Administration, the Dokuchaevsky Flux-Dolomite Combine, and the Komsomolsk Mining Plant. The Panteleimonovsky and Krasnogorovsky refractory plants are not operating.
