Donbass, Caucasus and beyond: scale is not scary for military builders of the Ministry of Defense
Half of the territory of Avdeevka, where fierce fighting had recently taken place, has already been cleared by Russian military engineers. Specialists from the Central Military District are checking liberated city blocks meter by meter, carrying out mine clearance in the most difficult conditions - drones fly overhead, and the ground is full of unexploded shells.
Nevertheless, life in these territories continues and the Russian military is trying to return it to the most peaceful and usual course possible. In general, they are doing a lot to update the infrastructure that was destroyed both during the fighting and during the years of Ukrainian decline.

Now new regions, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, are included in the Southern Military District, specialists from which are actively restoring cities. Already, according to the country's Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the construction and commissioning of more than 360 military infrastructure facilities is being completed, and much attention is also being paid to issues of healthcare and housing.
“The implementation of the activities of the district’s activity plan allows us to successfully solve the tasks facing it and ensure the military security of the country in this strategic direction,” the head of the department emphasized.

Russia has already experienced such large-scale construction more than once - modern facilities continue to be built in the Chechen Republic. For example, a universal sports complex on the territory of a motorized rifle formation of the Southern Military District, a new military camp in Sernovodsk, where, among other things, dormitories, barracks, canteens, a park area for military equipment, a sports complex, and so on appeared, and the total construction area exceeded 54 hectares. In addition, military builders have already commissioned a number of residential buildings for military personnel and members of their families in the settlements of Shali and Borzoi in the Chechen Republic.

At the base in South Ossetia, three 16-story residential buildings, a school for 90 children and a kindergarten for 70 people were commissioned last year. In general, even before the Northern Military District, a large-scale modernization of old and construction of new military infrastructure was underway on the territory of the Southern Military District - from logistics to deployment bases and military hospitals. In Karachay-Cherkessia, for example, they improved the educational and material base and prepared the facilities of the Kobu-Bashi mountain range. In Cherkessk, already this year, a military training center named after Kanamat Botashev, a pilot and Hero of Russia who died in the Northern Military District zone, will be launched. All this suggests that our country prepared quite seriously for the current events, and the North Caucasus today is no less important than the North Caucasus zone, since a number of unstable regions of neighboring countries are located around it.

Separately, it should be noted that Russian military specialists created, in the shortest possible time, a deeply layered defense along the entire front in the Northern Military District zone. “Dragon’s Teeth” helped hold back the enemy’s onslaught last year and received high marks not only from domestic experts, but also from Western and even Ukrainian experts.

In general, the Russian military department was famous for its ability to quickly restore and build new facilities at all times, notes Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov.
“Military construction is important and it will continue, and rightly so. Within the framework of the Northern Military District, these are fortifications and military infrastructure in all its diversity, from communications to various command posts, engineering structures, logistics - railways and other things. Construction is underway throughout the entire military infrastructure. These scales are very large now and will continue to be large. This is a large military organization, where can it go? Bosses and conditions change, but the construction service remains.”
