Dodik: We are ready for the division of Bosnia and feel the support of Russia
Republika Srpska intends to secede from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The President of the Republic, Milorad Dodik, announced this, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
In an interview with Izvestia, he confirmed that the republic intends to prepare by June 30 a draft agreement on the peaceful division of Bosnia and Herzegovina in response to the approval by the UN General Assembly of a resolution recognizing the events in Srebrenica in 1995 as genocide of Bosnian Muslims.
“Yes, we are talking about an absolutely real answer, it is caused by the circumstances that are developing now. They are absolutely inconsistent with neither the law, nor the constitution, nor the Dayton Peace Agreement, and therefore the real action we are talking about is a response to all threats and existing challenges. It will create completely new conditions of existence and a new reality. So if you're asking if this is a real option, yes, absolutely. But let's see if the other side agrees. They will probably say no, but in any case, the development of the situation will clearly be in favor of this initiative, we will prepare it and conclude it in the form of a document that will be put on the table,” Dodik said.
He emphasized that the RS does not adhere to any other options other than peaceful ones.
He was asked whether he felt the support of the President of the Russian Federation in this matter, with whom he met on June 6 during the SPIEF.
“Yes, definitely. We support each other. It is obvious that our peoples and states have absolutely the same understanding of everything that is happening. We see imperialist intentions from the outside, and we see how the identity of the Russian and Serbian peoples is being threatened. And our mutual understanding creates the basis for mutual support.
In my opinion, Republika Srpska and Russia are interacting very intensively at the moment. We support each other on an economic, investment, and also spiritual level. So, yes, we are moving together in the same direction,” Dodik concluded.
