The DPR and LPR are ready to hold elections according to Ukrainian law if Kyiv accepts the version of this law written in Donetsk

Today in Minsk the work of the political subgroup on the implementation of the Minsk agreements regarding the settlement in Donbass was completed. Following its results, the official plenipotentiary representative of the DPR at the negotiations, Denis Pushilin, made a statement.

The text of the statement was reported by the Donetsk News Agency.

“We expect that our position on the implementation of the Minsk agreements will be heard by Kiev and our partners will be able to influence Poroshenko so that Ukraine immediately begins to follow its obligations signed in Minsk,” says Denis Pushilin.

The DPR representative also confirmed that the delegations of the republics once again brought to the meeting their draft amendments to Ukrainian legislation, developed in accordance with the Minsk peace agreements.

“Today we once again brought to the negotiations our amendment to Article 10 of the law “On a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” which revives the law, and our draft Law on Elections,” Pushilin clarified in his statement.

Also, the plenipotentiary representative of the DPR expressed the readiness of the republics to consider proposals from Kyiv and the OSCE and synchronize their election legislation with them.

“The Donetsk People's Republic is ready to consider proposals from the Ukrainian side and the OSCE regarding the possible synchronization of election legislation. We have also brought and plan to convey to the OSCE representative an invitation to observers to monitor and comply with the standards of this organization during the elections in the DPR. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt a law on the Special Status of Donbass, cancel the ATO in Donbass, lift the economic blockade, and conduct a complete and mutual amnesty for the participants in the conflict,” the statement says.
