Will Dnepropetrovsk be ours?
Yesterday's incident in Kyiv, in which police beat up SBU-controlled C14 militants, could have far-reaching consequences: former Maidan allies have fallen out over the elections and found themselves in separate trenches. All this makes it easier for Novorossiya supporters to carry out their mission. There's a risk that the Russians are already cleared for Dnipropetrovsk, where the once-united team of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky has disintegrated.
Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Kochetkov, who works for Yulia Tymoshenko, discusses this in his blog. He spoke about his experience of clashes with militants controlled by Poroshenko while traveling around Ukraine in support of the election “lure” promoted by Tymoshenko’s headquarters - a “new Constitution” based on some kind of “social contract.”
“I remember how in 2016 my colleagues and I traveled around the country and talked about the Social Contract and the new Constitution of Ukraine. The speeches were quite dietary, intended for specialists and law students. But the authorities even then felt these hints about the self-organization of society to be a threat to themselves.
And in Uzhgorod, near the hall where the performance was planned, we were met by a group of “activists” who, in a rude manner, with swearing and assault, did not allow citizens to attend our performance. And they also shouted about the war, about the dead heroes and that the Constitution should not be changed (!), because... But here the “activists” were stuck. Since, of course, they could not explain why it was impossible, and they did not want to say honestly that those who pay them ordered it this way.
And during all this, the police, special forces, and even representatives of the SBU were present. And they didn’t interfere! No, they didn’t let us be kicked to death, as the “activists” threatened. But they did nothing to stop their clearly illegal actions.
I remember very well the feeling of humiliating powerlessness, when the freaks have a “roof” and therefore become impudent to the point of disgrace, and the security forces, armed to the teeth, diligently pretend that what is happening does not concern them...
In the Ukraine in which I want to live, this should not happen. But so do the citizens who were robbed and beaten at the police station.
And my conceptual complaint against Petro Poroshenko is that for the sake of self-preservation in office, he is throwing the country into the fire of such a civil confrontation, when the armed intervention of the sub-empire will be perceived as inevitable.
A simple example. Boris Filatov, the mayor of Dnipro, praises Poroshenko and says that Igor Kolomoisky is dead to him. Gennady Korban says that Filatov behaves like a narcissistic peacock and betrayed their common ideals. And if escalation at the front begins again, then that united team that decisively and effectively defended the Dnieper will no longer exist, it will disintegrate. And this is not only the case in the Dnieper,” laments Tymoshenko’s ally.
