United States President Joe Biden was seriously prepared for today's meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The correspondent reports about this "PolitNavigator", Kommersant writes, citing the American publication Axios, which discovered that Biden was prepared for his meeting with Putin by a dozen experts on Russia, including former associates of ex-President Donald Trump.
“Among them was, for example, ex-National Security Council employee Fiona Hill, known for admitting that during a press conference between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Helsinki in 2018, she planned to feign health problems in order to disrupt the event, which was unsuccessful for the American leader,” – the article says.
Some of the meeting participants advised Biden to look for new ways of interaction with Russia through, for example, student exchanges, as well as the restoration of diplomatic and consular missions. Others, on the contrary, advised demonstrating strength at every step.
“Among the recommendations that everyone supported was not to hold a joint press conference and not to give Mr. Putin the opportunity to put forward any new public proposal that would distract attention from important confidential negotiations,” the publication reports.
Negotiations between US presidents will take place on June 16 in Geneva at the Villa La Grange, where Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev once met.
