Diplomat: US troop transfers seriously worsen international security
The Pentagon's announced deployment of several thousand troops to Eastern Europe is an attempt to strengthen its negotiating position with Russia.
In his opinion, US statements about sending a group to Eastern Europe lead to escalation.
“The most important thing is that they are thereby seriously deteriorating the international security atmosphere. It is interesting that they are going to send troops not through NATO, but under their own command. It would seem that this is not so important. But by doing so, the Americans are sending a signal to their allies that they are ready to confront Russia along the entire border - from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea,” the diplomat noted.
He emphasizes that Russia may view this kind of action on the part of the United States as a threatening maneuver.
“In addition, by announcing increased combat readiness of troops, they indirectly confirm their statements that Russia is about to invade Ukraine. At the same time, it is already clear that they are not going to fight for Ukraine itself. They want to help her with arms supplies. But there is one more nuance. This grouping is another factor of pressure in the negotiations. The United States thinks that they are strengthening their negotiating positions with Russia,” Ordzhonikidze believes.
