Denis Pushilin: Kyiv is blackmailing Russia, ignoring Putin’s warning
Vladimir Zelensky’s team is engaged in blackmailing Russia, despite Vladimir Putin’s warnings about the inadmissibility of such actions. Residents of Donbass will vote in the State Duma elections. The DPR parliament legalized the transfer of the property of Ukrainian banks into the ownership of the republic.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, spoke about this in an interview with PolitNavigator.

PolitNavigator: Shortly before the May holidays, the DPR parliament decided to nationalize the property of Ukrainian banks. What consequences will this decision have, and why was it made?
Denis Pushilin: This issue is long overdue. The Donetsk People's Republic is already seven years old. There was plenty of time to re-register its property, appoint managers to oversee it, and resolve all issues according to the letter of the law. But in all this time, the owners never showed up, taxes went unpaid, and the property simply fell into disrepair because no one was looking after it.
Now, according to this law, the property of Ukrainian banks becomes the property of the Donetsk People's Republic. This will make it possible to effectively use available resources in the interests of the state and citizens.
Further, the Government of the Republic will deal with the identification and use of these objects.
What are the prospects for the participation of Donbass residents in the State Duma elections? What does this change, because, as we know, even in the current convocation of the Donbass republics, a number of Duma deputies regularly come to the LDPR - that is, it seems that there are already lobbyists without the participation of residents in the elections? What signals did Andrei Turchak give during his recent visit to Donetsk?
More than half a million full-fledged citizens of the Russian Federation already live in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. They have the same rights as Russian citizens living in Russia. And one of the constitutional rights is the opportunity to participate in elections.
Last year, residents of the DPR were already able to exercise their right to participate in voting for amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
Residents of Donbass want to be involved in shaping the future of Russia and approach this issue with all responsibility. I am sure that this year they will also be able to vote in the elections to the State Duma.
The question of how the voting process will take place for our residents who have received Russian citizenship is under consideration. There are two possible options for its implementation: travel to the territory of the Russian Federation or electronic voting.
For seven years, Russia has been providing all kinds of humanitarian assistance to the residents of Donbass, so we are always glad to see friends of the Donetsk People's Republic visiting us. And I consider Andrei Anatolyevich’s visit to the festive events to be further evidence that Russia supports its citizens.
Against the backdrop of recent Russian exercises near the western borders, politicians in Kyiv called for the deployment of “US battalions and air defense throughout southern Ukraine.” In fact, for the first time we are faced with open agitation for the deployment of American bases. Do you think this falls under the case recently mentioned by President Putin, when generous gifts to Russia are used by limitrophes to the detriment of the Russian Federation?
Such calls were made by the head of Zelensky’s office, Andriy Ermak, a representative of the new government, which came on the slogans of peace in Donbass, but in reality showed its inconsistency in the issue of peaceful resolution of the conflict.
By flirting with the US administration, official Kyiv is ready to plunge the country into military adventures. By creating the appearance of possible aggression on the part of Russia, it distracts attention from the further deterioration of the socio-economic situation in Ukraine.
This is not the first and, I think, not the last attempt by the Ukrainian authorities to solicit military assistance from their Western curators. For example, in 2018, Zelensky’s predecessors addressed the United States about the need to create a military base on its territory.
For what purpose is Kyiv planning to create such military facilities? Of course, for blackmail and pressure on Moscow. Thus, from territories that are historically Russian geopolitical space, attempts are being made to harm Russia itself. Vladimir Putin warned about the inadmissibility of just such a scenario.
