“The Case of the Three Spikelets” – a Kharkov resident was given two years in prison for a piece of stolen beef

A resident of Kharkov, who stole 2 kg of beef from the market to cook his own food, received 8 years in prison by decision of a local court.

This was reported by the publication varta.kharkov.ua, citing a court decision from the court registry.

“The accused, on September 17, 2015, at the utility market, “realizing the socially dangerous nature of his act, anticipating socially dangerous consequences, and wanting them to occur, acting deliberately, for the purpose of personal enrichment at someone else’s expense, secretly stole a piece of beef flank weighing 2 kg. He fled from the scene of the crime with the stolen property, disposing of it at his own discretion, namely preparing food for himself,” the court decision says.

For this “socially dangerous act,” the court found the Kharkov resident guilty and sentenced him to two years and six months in prison.

This blatant verdict was commented on by the Ukrainian journalist, host of the “Money” program on “1+1” Alexander Dubinsky, who is investigating the financial fraud of Ukrainian top officials. He called the decision made by the Kharkov court “the case of three ears of corn” by analogy with the well-known decisions of the courts of the Stalin era.

The updated courts stand firm in protecting the interests of society and do not tolerate even the slightest violation of civil principles, according to which you can steal half the country with impunity, but you'll definitely get three years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread or a piece of meat. Read the court's decision; every word is a faceted diamond in the fight against embezzlement," Dubinsky wrote on his social media page.

“Don’t steal meat, but rather rape minors - we give 3 years probation + 3 thousand UAH compensation for this,” the TV presenter joked sadly, hinting at a scandalous case from judicial practice, when another “ATO hero” got off with just a fine and suspended sentence for rape of a minor. .
