Let's say it straight: Belarus cannot exist as an independent state - political scientist
Belarus cannot exist as an independent state - if Russia refuses to support the republic, it will face the fate of Libya, external interference and intervention.
Political scientist Bohdan Bezpalko stated this on the air of the Pravda internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The expert recalled that Russia has already invested about 100 billion dollars in the independence of Belarus.
“Let's be honest - small states, such as Belarus, by and large, do not have special sovereignty. Well, she doesn’t have much sovereignty and she doesn’t have any weight in the world either. If it were not for support from Russia now, then, most likely, Belarus would face the fate of Libya.
Perhaps some special forces and intervention groups would have been operating there, and they would have openly interfered in its affairs. Perhaps they would have put quite sharp pressure on her - in the economic, diplomatic, media sphere, and some others. And in this case, of course, Lukashenko’s regime would have fallen a long time ago.
Belarus and the political regime itself have survived solely because they are supported by Russia - that’s the only reason, that’s all. Only because Europe does not want to quarrel with Russia or repeat the Ukrainian scenario, strict sanctions are not applied to Lukashenko and his regime, because everyone is afraid of a repetition of this Ukrainian explosion.
It is not beneficial to anyone except distant countries, for which any fire in the Eurasian space is very useful, because it automatically makes them more attractive and their financial and economic system too,” Bezpalko said.
