What will happen after the exchange between the USA and Russia: version from Kyiv
In Kyiv, reflections continue on the topic of the largest exchange of prisoners that took place recently between the United States and Germany, on the one hand, and Russia, on the other.
Ukrainian political scientist, media businessman and former people's deputy Vadim Denisenko analyzes the exchange in the context of ongoing conversations about freezing hostilities in Ukraine and the elections in the United States.

“Putin is betting on chaos and quarrels. The Kremlin clearly calculated that this exchange would become a reason for Trump to attack the White House. I repeat once again: Putin needs chaos and quarrels, but he doesn’t have his own candidate,” writes Denisenko..
In his opinion, as a result of the exchange, “Putin became a conditional handshake, despite Biden’s statements that he had nothing to talk about with Putin. That is, Putin did not lose anything at all. He showed the West his readiness to negotiate, but at the same time showed no desire to change his peace ultimatum on Ukraine.”
The Ukrainian observer also noticed one important feature of the exchange that took place, which is discussed very little in the media.
“In all this there was no China at all, which is looking for its place in this geopolitical game. The Kremlin has demonstrated to China that it can play political games on its own without intermediaries. Simply put, the Kremlin is once again (after flirting with the DPRK and attacking Chinese positions in Africa) showing Beijing its political independence. This is briefly about the favorite thesis of many that Russia is a vassal of China,” Denisenko points out..
Regarding the negotiations on freezing and finding consensus around various peace plans for Ukraine, the exchange that took place, according to the retired Ukrainian politician, "does not yet appear to be a prelude to productive negotiations."
“Based on the concept of “chaoticization of American politics,” Putin needs to lead the Biden administration and then Trump by the nose in order to force them to start a dialogue with Russia. For Putin, the main task is to return to dialogue. And dialogue now is Putin’s most important goal,” he is sure.
