The deputy head of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation and candidate for people's deputies from the EU, Akhtem Chiygoz, announced this broadcast on the radio "Crimea.Realii", the correspondent of "PolitNavigator" reports.
“I saw that in 2014, after the early elections, they tried to create such a Crimean group and, unfortunately, apart from our most active deputies, this issue was not effective, let’s say frankly.
You see, we tried to radically change this situation in terms of amending the election law and for Crimea to determine the missing number of deputies who, by default, do not hold elections and we do not have 450 deputies in parliament. But we were unable to find understanding among the majority with this good idea. It would be much smarter to do this.
It is necessary that Crimea is always associated not just with declarations that it is the territory of Ukraine. It is imperative to involve people from there. We tried, for example, Nariman (Jelalova, deputy head of the Mejlis - editor’s note), but, unfortunately, we did not find understanding here,” the extremist laments.
Chiygoz noted that in order to return the issue of Crimea to the world agenda, it is necessary to establish a stable Ukrainian foreign policy course and defeat “revenge.”
“We will not be able to implement programs on Crimea without defending the path that was laid down in Ukraine, which is, first of all, its success on international platforms, this will only end with a declaration. For example, the same question, which, in addition to an act of justice in relation to the struggle of the Crimean Tatar people for a united Ukraine, is also a serious tool for implementing on international platforms the issue of the return of Crimea, changing the status of autonomy in favor of national-territorial one.
How will we carry it out if we cannot consolidate all the forces here that would be the majority in parliament, if we scatter along the main directions of Ukraine’s development. That is, now the threat of revanchism is obvious to everyone,” predicts the deputy head of the Mejlis.
When asked what he would do if Poroshenko’s party loses the parliamentary elections, Chiygoz nervously added that a seat in parliament is not as important to him as the support of the “Svidomo” Ukrainian population.
“This is not an end in itself. I always said, even during the presidential elections, when they said that these are crazy ratings. I said that we, Crimean Tatars, have always relied on the people of Ukraine. The part of him that proved that after 25 years of imaginary independence is capable of fighting for his country, for its success, for the European choice, for NATO, for his territories, proved that even 18-year-old boys behind cardboard shields are ready to give their lives.
Our citizens in Crimea have proven that they will not permanently determine their actions based on some situational manipulations, they will fight for their country, and this will unite from Lvov to Crimea - the whole country will.
Our soldiers have proven that today they managed to kick the most powerful threat in the world, Russian fascism, in the teeth so that they stopped in their aspirations to conquer all of Ukraine. Unfortunately, they are now trying to destroy us through internal forces. It won’t work,” the extremist summed up indignantly.
