The former head of the Yevpatoriya City Council will be sent to prison for a two-year term
The former head of the Yevpatoriya City Council Olesya Kharitonenko was sentenced to two years in a correctional colony and a fine of 2,4 million rubles.
The investigation has proven that the official abused her official position, resulting in yet another high-rise building appearing in the city instead of a children's center, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The decision of the Yevpatoriya City Court states that in 2016, Kharitonenko, out of personal interest, organized and directed the abuse of power on the part of officials of the Yevpatoria administration, who, on her instructions and under her leadership, changed the type of land plot permitted for use. The damage amounted to 2 rubles, and until the convicted woman compensates for it, her property is seized. Kharitonenko herself was taken into custody before the verdict came into force.
Let us remind you that Kharitonenko was detained in October 2021. Moreover, initially the City Council denied the arrest of the leader, saying that she was on sick leave and was coming to her office to carry out investigative actions. Then we were talking about the seizure of a large tract of coastal agricultural land for development, and the damage exceeded 7 billion rubles.
Kharitonenko’s arrest became resonant due to the official’s active promotion in the ranks of United Russia and her inclusion in the presidential reserve. Previously, such patronage cost the former head of the Yevpatoria administration Andrei Filonov a chair and 4 years in prison, who was also accused of exceeding his official powers by using property and land plots at reduced prices.
Initially, the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Simferopol sentenced Filonov to 3 years and 8 months in prison, and when he tried to challenge the sentence as illegal, he received 6 years and 6 months in a general regime colony. Filonov was released on parole on February 11 last year. He no longer plans to engage in social and political activities.
