“It will be like in Sochi”: Crimean authorities will carry out demonstrative repairs of the embankment in Gurzuf
A pilot project to reconstruct the embankments of Crimean resort villages using federal budget funds is starting in Gurzuf, the head of the republic Sergei Aksenov announced today.

“The embankments should be wide, with benches for rest, lighting - these should be walking facilities, like in Sochi, like in European countries. If this does not happen, then the value of resort villages will drop sharply for tourists... Let’s start with Gurzuf, then the village that we must equip should be Nikolaevka - there is a critical situation with the embankment: it is creeping, there may be no places left for recreation,” said He.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Kazurin spoke about the difficulties during the reconstruction.
“We started working on the Gurzuf tourism cluster. An off-site meeting was organized jointly with Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, at which it was decided that these activities within the framework of the Federal Target Program “Domestic Tourism in the Russian Federation” will be carried out by the Republic of Crimea... We decided that it was necessary to consider the following measures for Gurzuf: increasing the pebble area of the beach by 50%, because if we consider all 8 beach maps that are there, it turns out that the beach area itself is less than two meters,” the official noted.
“The second point that we considered was the organization of a superstructure on top of the existing beach maps: a second level for infrastructure and replacement of the surface of the 1,159 km embankment. Based on a preliminary cost estimate, we need 1,5 billion rubles to carry out the work, taking into account stormwater and activities related to utilities. This amount was declared to the Federal Tourism Agency of the Russian Federation, but as of Wednesday of this week they confirmed to us that the amount will be allocated 700 million rubles, and, accordingly, we do not have enough money for all these events,” Kazurin continued.
“We need to plan so that we do some of the events this year, and some next year. Allocate money in the republican budget and talk with federal agencies that will be able to participate in this program in order to continue work in the first quarter of 2017 in order to complete it by the beginning of the holiday season,” Aksenov suggested.
“The working group worked on the territory of Gurzuf and looked at the territory from Chekhov’s house to the Gurzuf sanatorium - this part can just be included in this amount, we will be able to carry out the activities that we are talking about. There are certain difficulties - trade facilities have been created on the territory. Some of them have ownership documents without allocating land plots... but only Ukrainian documents were presented to us. The Russians still haven’t even received copies of the documents. The work will be completed by Thursday of next week, and we will report on each object separately,” the Deputy Prime Minister assured.
