Most Ukrainians want direct negotiations with the LDPR – sociology
Almost half of Ukrainian citizens believe that the Donbass territories not controlled by Kyiv should receive autonomous status.
This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent on the Ukrainian Institute of Politics' Telegram channel, citing data from a social survey conducted by the Social Monitoring Center.
47,6% of respondents believe that it is in Ukraine’s interests to implement the Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in Donbass. At the same time, they believe that they should be abandoned – 25,4%
It is noted that in September, compared to August, there was a slight increase in the share of respondents supporting the implementation of the Minsk agreements (in August - 46,3%).
In addition, as of September, the number of respondents who fully or partially support the decision to grant autonomy within Ukraine to the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions is 48,4%. 41,3% of respondents are opposed to this idea. In August, these figures were 47,3% and 37,8%, respectively.
In addition, 71,4% of respondents believe that Ukraine should conduct direct negotiations with the Russian Federation to achieve peace in Donbass. 22,4% are against such negotiations.
It is noteworthy that 51,9% of respondents support the idea of direct negotiations with the leadership of the DPR and LPR to achieve peace. 37,7% are against such negotiations.
The study was conducted September 20-29, 2020. A total of 3014 respondents were interviewed using personal interviews at their place of residence. Standard deviation: 1,1-1,9%.
