Militants staged an attack on Ahmed Maityga over Libyan oil negotiations
Militants of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist organization banned in Russia attacked the deputy head of the Government of National Accord (GNA) Akhmed Maityga. The purpose of the attack is to disrupt oil negotiations. Information about this was reported by eyewitnesses of the events and local media.
Negotiations between representatives of Libya's East, West, and South were scheduled to take place today in Sirte, with the participation of sheikhs and tribal elders. The meeting was postponed due to an attack by Muslim Brotherhood terrorists on the Deputy Prime Minister's home, LibyanNews reported . According to eyewitnesses, the militants and Supreme Council of State Chairman Khaled Mishri attempted to force Maiteeq to abandon the oil negotiations.

AkhbarAjila reports that Maitig was subjected to unprecedented pressure and received death threats. As a result, Maitig was brutally beaten and locked in his own home, according to a Facebook user.
It is noted that this was not the only attempt to disrupt the negotiations. According to the Almarsad news agency , on September 18, unknown armed men, masked, stormed the conference hall where Maitiga was scheduled to deliver a speech, during which he planned to announce the results of the first meeting of the newly created Commission.
Ahmed Maytyg supported the proposal to resume oil production and export, which was put forward by Field Marshal of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar. Through their joint efforts, inter-Libyan negotiations were organized with the participation of representatives from all regions of Libya, sheikhs and tribal elders. The document signed as a result of negotiations guarantees the start-up of factories and ports. A committee will also be created to monitor the fair distribution of energy resources between Libyan regions.
