The battle of vaccines: Russians are no stranger to saving the world
In one of my columns, I wrote that Russia, despite all its absurdities and troubles, of which we have in abundance, is able to solve big problems. What's first on the agenda now? Coronavirus, of course. And coping with it is the first task. Mainly due to an effective vaccine.
When Russia launched Sputnik V into orbit, there were a lot of ugh voices. Judging, mocking, mocking - different. Like, what kind of Russian vaccine are you talking about? Here even the great West is powerless.

However, what are we essentially seeing now? In Russia, the situation with coronavirus has improved. Not without problems, not without misfortunes - no bravura, but it has improved - a fact. And then the Russian vaccine was in demand in India, Brazil, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Argentina and other countries. Italy is coming. There are about 50 states in total.
Moreover, it became known that the European Union is ready to enter into negotiations with Russia regarding the supply and production of Sputnik V. It is clear that the EU would have started doing this earlier if not for the yoke of political decisions.
Please note that Sputnik V is being released to the world and Europe against the backdrop of the ineffectiveness of other vaccines. Obviously, with Pfizer, as Bogdan Titomir would say, the song is done. Refusal to use the AstraZeneca vaccine in Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy. Europe can continue to deny the effectiveness of Sputnik V, but it will have to pay for it with their lives. Unfortunately.
And this is not a shout-out to the Russian vaccine, and, consequently, to science and medicine. But it’s time for us to discard the callous myth about the “enlightened West” and “backward Russia.” Facts sometimes indicate the opposite.
As for the general situation in the world, no significant improvements are expected. The coronavirus has literally and figuratively divided people and countries when, on the contrary, they should have united. But, you see, there is logic and meaning in the fact that it is the Russians who will once again save the world.
