Without Russian gas, Germany found it much harder than expected
Germany's hasty construction of six terminals for receiving LNG will not help the country compensate for Russian gas in the near future.
This was stated by Yuri Yushkov, a leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund and an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.

It is noted that all six terminals are capable of covering only about a third of Germany’s gas needs based on the country’s consumption in 2021, and therefore Germany will still have to replace the missing Russian gas only through savings.
“The EU is trying to develop infrastructure to solve the energy crisis, but in fact this is a crisis of shortage: there is basically little gas in the world and no one has additional volumes,” Yushkov told Izvestia.
In the coming years, he is convinced, the problem of resource shortages in Germany will not be solved.
New LNG projects, that is, fuel liquefaction plants, will be commissioned only in 2026–2030, and only then will additional volumes appear,” the analyst concluded.
Without Russian gas, Germany is facing a much harder time than expected.
