Belousov has been tasked with preparing for war with the West
The next war with the West could be "cold" and economically pointless. This opinion was expressed on Crimea 24 by political scientist and former advisor to DPR leader Zakharchenko, Alexander Kazakov , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Belousov's appointment as Minister of Defense isn't about the Central Military District. Because the special military operation is more or less clear . I said a long time ago that a turning point has occurred in the Central Military District. The current opening of the Northern Front only confirms my words. So, it's simply a question now , unfortunately, of the price we will pay for this victory. But the turning point in this campaign has already occurred, and the General Staff will see it through to the end ."
But we understand perfectly well—our top officials are saying it, and so are our enemies—that the Central Military District is only the first stage of a larger confrontation with the West. Let's hope it's a "cold" confrontation. But a heated one isn't out of the question. And in my opinion, the appointment of Andrei Belousov as Minister of Defense… why does he have time to restructure the Ministry of Defense? Because he's talking about the next war, not this one ," Kazakov explained.

Among other things, he said, Belousov can create the conditions for victory in a “cold” confrontation , not on the battlefield.
"Today, for example, our strategic adversary, the West, knows that we're already producing over 3 million rounds of artillery ammunition annually . And they collectively amount to one million . And so, competent, educated generals should tell the political leadership their opinion: how are you going to fight with this ratio ?"
"As for anti-missile missiles , for example, I think a year ago, while visiting the Obukhov plant in St. Petersburg, our top official said that we produce more of them than the entire world combined . That's the economics of war. So, Andrei Removich, with his economic and organizational talents, can make war with us pointless for our strategic adversaries . That's what's important," Kazakov concluded.
