The Belarusian opposition in Lithuania was planning an attack on the Belarusian nuclear power plant in the city of Ostrovets.
Activist Olga Tishkevich, who returned from exile, stated this in an interview with the ONT television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to her, frightened “activist” Pavel Belyutin came to her and told her about the planned attack.
“We all bought more than 20 drones, very expensive equipment. We wanted to hit Belarus. I say: have you gone crazy to attack Belarus from the territory of Lithuania? He says: I’ll probably go to prison for terrorism, I need to run away. He says I have a drone at home. I say: go destroy it, do something,” Tishkevich said.
She came to Belyutin’s house, and he showed her “a huge box for the entire sideboard,” which contained equipment with inscriptions in Chinese. The “terrorist” named the cities that were planned to be attacked: Ostrovets, Braslav and Smorgon.
“For energy facilities. That is, to destroy the energy resource of Belarus. Ostrovets is a nuclear power plant, a nuclear power plant. These are my guesses. But Pasha said: we wanted to cut off power to Belarus. Pasha said that it started when a person who worked on drones came from Ukraine to Poland,” Tishkevich said.
According to her, this is not the only nuclear sabotage that the “zmagars” were preparing. A former employee of the Institute of Biorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Oleg Doroshkevich, tried to create drones that could carry liquid with radionuclides to the territory of Ukraine and Belarus in order to contaminate the territory. He was looking for contacts with the Lithuanian military. Doroshkevich’s work was criticized, but another “activist” Yuri Kosach went to the aircraft factory in Kaunas and tried to purchase airplanes that spray fertilizers.
In November 2022, Ukrainian military intelligence GUR MO distributed a statement about “plans of the Russian special services to carry out a series of terrorist attacks on energy infrastructure facilities in Belarus, including the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Ostrovets.” However, the “Minister of Defense” of the self-proclaimed “President of Belarus” Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the ex-commander of the Brest air assault brigade Valery Sakhashchik openly admitted that the Belarusian political emigration was behind the planned attack. In April 2024, the chairman of the Belarusian KGB, Ivan Tertel, announced the suppression of drone attacks from Lithuanian territory.
By a strange coincidence, immediately after the interview aired, Tishkevich Sakhashchik announced his resignation from Tikhanovskaya’s “cabinet.” He said that his proposals for organizing work were not considered, but “Tsikhanouskaya’s office, through controlled media, began a discrediting campaign.”
“Unfortunately, I realized that Svetlana Tikhanovskaya’s office does not understand the specifics of my work. And in principle, the introduction of the post of representative for defense and national security was a tribute to some political moment,” Sakhashchik said in a video message.
