Lvov, June 11 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The special purpose police patrol battalion “Lvov” is almost 50% formed and is undergoing training.

According to the head of the Lviv region police, Dmitry Zagaria, today the battalion has 221 soldiers out of the required 500 people. Recruits are trained at a police training base in Lviv and may be deployed to carry out tasks in eastern Ukraine.
Zagaria said that recruitment into the units continues, candidates undergo a medical examination, so the formation of the battalion is planned to be completed in the near future.
“The battalion’s task is to provide public law enforcement services, at checkpoints, control traffic flows, identify explosives, weapons, and narcotic substances,” says the head of the regional police, as quoted by the ZiK publication.
As Zagaria assured, volunteers are provided with all social guarantees provided for by the legislation of Ukraine, in particular, the law on the police. The fighters' salary is more than 4,2 thousand UAH.
Zagaria noted that the battalion is not yet fully equipped with combat equipment - helmets, body armor. Equipment is often supplied by volunteers who work even in Poland.
Most of the battalion's fighters are contract soldiers, the rest are police officers. The commander of the “Lvov” battalion, Igor Volsky, said: “Upon admission, I hold a conversation with the personnel, putting psychological pressure on them. I say: perhaps you will go there - are you ready to go there? He says whether he is ready or not. There are those who refused to leave. More or less morally stable people were recruited here.”
As Navigator reported, in Western Ukraine there are often cases when relatives of those mobilized block military units to prevent them from being sent to the ATO zone.
