A scandal erupted in Lvov in connection with the opening of the exhibition “Svirzh Castle in the works of Countess Irena Komorovskaya” at the National Gallery of Art - in the exhibition, caring Banderaites saw “zrada” of unprecedented proportions.
A special appeal from Verkhovna Rada deputy Yuri Shukhevych, the son of the commander of the collaborationist UPA, was sent to the President of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The People's Deputy is outraged by the fact that the husband of the mentioned Countess, Tadeusz Komorowski, was the commander of the Kraojwa Army and pursued a strict policy of “pacification” of Ukrainian villages during the Second World War.
According to Shukhevych, this exhibition is “a provocation by gallery director Taras Vozniak on the eve of the elections,” which “could cause great unrest in Lviv.”
“Irena Komorowska’s husband, General Tadeusz Bur-Komorowski, commanded the Home Army during World War II. He became famous for ordering his subordinates to destroy Ukrainian villages. He is the author of the “Storm” plan to capture a number of cities in Western Ukraine before the arrival of the Red Army in order to ensure that Western Ukrainian lands belong to Poland. Please also take into account the fact that this is being done on the eve of the anniversary of the complete extermination of the civilian population of the village of Pavlokoma, which occurred on March 3, 1945,” the address to Poroshenko says.
Shukhevych also reported to the president that the director of the gallery, Vozniak, holds his position illegally, since he is the largest collector of antiques and works of art in Ukraine.
In addition, 22 public organizations contacted the Ministry of Culture demanding that they take action regarding the exhibition.
In addition to historical claims similar to Shukhevych’s appeal, social activists spotted a number of anti-Ukrainian statements on the official page of the Lviv National Gallery.
In particular, the “activists” were infuriated by the word “legendary” in relation to Komorowski, reports the local website “Lvovskaya Khvylya”.
The appeal of two dozen organizations was signed by the coordinator of the Historical Dialogues center, Mikhail Galushchak, who actively supports the ATO militants and promotes the Tyagnibok candidate Ruslan Koshulinsky.
“We, representatives of the Lviv public, are outraged by the comment on the official page of the Lviv National Gallery of Art named after B. Voznitsky, which states that the exhibition will feature works by the wife of the “legendary Boer.” We regard this as an outrage against the memory of tens of thousands of innocent Ukrainians who were killed by the Home Army led by General Tadeusz Komorowski, and as a sign of sabotage work against Ukraine,” the open appeal says.
At this point, the phrase mentioning the “legendary Boer” has been removed from the gallery’s official website, but particularly meticulous Banderaites are studying and savoring the history of corrections on the gallery’s Facebook page.
