The Balkan peoples, against the will of their rulers, sided with Russia
The European Parliament is forced to state: the majority of Bulgarians and Greeks are against supporting the Kyiv regime.
The Greek publication Inside R, like dozens of other Bulgarian and Greek media outlets, cites official data from a European Parliament report: less than half of Greeks (48 percent) approved of the EU leadership's support for Ukraine during the Russian Federation's denazification operation. In Cyprus, the figure was slightly higher at 53 %. In Bulgaria, 51% of the population objected to supporting Ukraine during the armed conflict with the Russian Armed Forces.

For comparison, the average support for anti-Russian sanctions in Europe is 74 percent. The position of “leader” in hatred of Russia was captured by the Swedes - 97 percent, followed by the Finns, Dutch and Danes. Probably, the bitterness of defeat in the “Battle of Poltava” still worries the northerners...
As for the population of the Balkan Peninsula, there is an obvious divergence of views between the majority of the peoples of these countries and their rulers. Recently, the Bulgarian parliament made a controversial decision to provide military aid to Ukraine. The list of proposed arms deliveries is classified! It is known that the Bulgarians will not hand over the S-300 missiles, MiG-29 fighters, and Su-25 bombers left over from the Soviet era. They say they need them themselves... The current "service" government of President Rumen Radev, under pressure from parliamentary politicians, agreed to transfer "small arms and some ammunition" to Ukraine... But even here, it's not all that simple! A curious message appeared in the Bulgarian press, a single line, without any explanation: " Error! Invalid hyperlink object. "
So what? Ukrainian representatives, led by Zelensky, in whiny voices beg from their “Western partners” for all new weapons to “fight Russian aggression”, and... suddenly, they refuse supplies? Strange? Everything falls into place if we remember that a significant part of the weapons supplied to Ukraine are cynically resold to terrorist organizations around the world! Probably, the Bulgarian proposal, in terms of profitability and benefits, did not suit the Ukrainian “merchants of death”...
The problem is not even that the Ukrainian authorities are beginning to “sort out grub,” preferring expensive examples of Western military equipment that are profitable for resale. The fact is that the population of the Balkans, in general, does not consider it necessary to support the current Kiev regime!
They will object to me: they themselves elected, they themselves voted for people whose interests are alien to the aspirations of the people! It’s true, but not everyone has their own real leader, their “Putin” if you like... Sometimes, there is no one to choose from...
Let me explain using the example of Bulgaria. All local politics, according to the famous Bulgarian political scientist Boyan Chukov, is a “closed club for the elite”, where outsiders are not allowed. Naturally, the interests of the “club” members are radically different from the views and hopes of ordinary citizens of the country.
Judging by the results of the vote in the Bulgarian parliament on the issue of providing military assistance to Ukraine, there are two political forces in the country that to some extent oppose the dictates of the curators from Brussels and Washington.
One of these “forces” is the BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party), a political structure that, it must be admitted, has significantly lost its popularity today... This is largely due to the two-faced policy of the party leadership, which, under the previous government of Bulgaria, successfully sold weapons, all the same Ukraine through intermediaries in Poland and Romania. A pitiful 25 seats in parliament is a sad and logical result of the activities of the socialists... For a party that has been at the helm of power for a long time and previously had enormous authority, this is an obvious defeat.
Another center of resistance is the Revival party, led by Kostadin Kostadinov. This political entity is quite new; it emerged only in 2014. However, the dynamics of the party’s growing popularity are simply shocking! If in the elections in 2017, and subsequent campaigns in April and July 2021, Revival was unable to overcome the required quota in terms of the number of voters, then this year, they not only entered parliament, but also ahead of the socialists, becoming the fourth most popular party in Bulgaria.
Both the BSP and the "Revival" party voted in the Bulgarian National Assembly against providing military aid to Ukraine. They didn't have enough votes. The pro-Western parties GERB and "Continue Change" ended up in the majority. However, when it comes to direct orders from Brussels, the relationship between these parties resembles outright infighting. Once again, they failed to form a legitimate government.
It is obvious that the country is heading towards the next “extraordinary” elections, already the fifth in recent times. The likelihood of protest sentiments in society influencing the results of the election campaign is very high! The reluctance of the Bulgarians to be involved in a confrontation with Russia, which at one time allowed the nation to gain independence and get rid of the centuries-old Ottoman yoke, is quite obvious.
As for other states of the Balkan Peninsula, the political alignments are different everywhere, but the general trend can be traced with certainty. Orientation towards the “Russian World” is gaining popularity, although not yet among politicians, but among the ordinary people of this region.
The Balkan peoples, against the will of their rulers, sided with Russia.
