“Bakanov—damn!” – The Verkhovna Rada fired the head of the SBU with curses
The Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of SBU head Ivan Bakanov, initiated by President Zelensky.
265 deputies voted for the dismissal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

In general, the majority of deputies supported the decision, but many complained that the dismissal took place without the knowledge of parliament, and that Bakanov himself did not report to the Verkhovna Rada.
During the discussion, deputy from European Solidarity Vladimir Aryev poured out everything that had accumulated regarding the ex-head of the SBU.
“It happens: before Bakanov caught devils, today Bakanov himself has become a devil. But he not only became a devil, but also started devilry in the SBU, as we see. Because when... I quote the President, quote the Supreme Commander. ...
What the SBU has been doing lately, including during the war, it has not been engaged so much in the fight against enemies as in the persecution of political opponents and, in particular, military counterintelligence has been constantly working with Poroshenko.
When we saw how a Russian godfather arrested by the SBU was actually forced to slander political opponents, while destroying political unity. Yes, today is the time to fire Bakanov, but the question is different - will the new head of the SBU work for Ukraine, will he work for the office of the President? If he works for the president’s office, this is a betrayal. Because today we must unite all around Ukraine,” Ariev protested.
Golos deputy Sergei Rakhmanin said that his faction would not vote for resignation on principle, but also did not miss his opportunity to talk about the painful issue.
“I think that there is not a single person here in this room who would not have questions about the Security Service of Ukraine, about its actions before and during the war, especially those departments and services that were directly involved in counterintelligence.
But, unfortunately, we never received an answer to these questions. And as I understand it, we won’t get it, because Ivan Gennadievich Bakanov did not volunteer to provide them. Neither behind closed doors at a meeting of the relevant committee, nor in front of the Verkhovna Rada, which, let me remind you, fires him - just as it appoints him to the position,” the deputy was indignant.
He complained that these questions will remain unanswered, regardless of who is chosen as the next head of the SBU.
“Such a procedure is devoid of any logic, just as the actions of certain officials of the Security Service were devoid of any logic. And, fortunately, to thank the Ukrainian people and God, we do not have a large number of collaborators, but a large number of those who collaborated with the enemy, there were questions for them: from the public, from voters, from journalists, but for some reason there were no these questions from representatives of the intelligence service.
And this again requires analysis and reporting, just as it requires analysis and reporting why representatives of a certain church in our country for some reason felt, or rather behaved, like agents of a hostile state, and not like people who are removed from the state, not like shepherds and not like patriots,” Rakhmanin complained.
In total, 265 deputies voted for Bakanov’s resignation.
