Ukrainian volunteer and participant in the so-called ATO Rodion Shovkoshitny spoke about this in an interview with Kraina magazine.
According to him, for some time he took part in hostilities as part of a “volunteer unit of the control and intelligence center of the main intelligence directorate of the Ministry of Defense.”
He says that in the summer of 2014 he planned to celebrate his “birthday on September 22nd on the border with Russia or to cleanse liberated cities,” but they were “ordered to retreat.”
“The army was demoralized at the beginning of the war. Many soldiers considered Russia a brother. They didn't want to fight. They accused the volunteers of allegedly starting the war, Shovkoshitny recalls. – This changed when they saw that Grads were firing at them from the “brotherly” country.
