American expert: Germany betrayed the USA and sold itself to Putin
Most of the residents and elites of Germany, including Angela Merkel, betrayed the United States and “sold themselves out” to Russia, becoming accomplices of Vladimir Putin.
The director of the non-governmental organization “For a free Ukraine”, American political scientist Jason Smart, said this during the “Free Russia Forum”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Germany is deeply Putinized, especially the elite. There are public opinion polls, and 70% of Germans believe that the United States is a very big challenge for German security, and only a little over 30% believe that Putin’s Russia is a big challenge.
"This country ( Germany – editor's note ) owes almost everything to the United States, a traditional ally. And this is a colossal success for Russian propaganda, for these lobbyists, and for Angela Merkel, whom many, including myself, considered a rival of Putin, and who is now considered—we must be careful not to use the word 'accomplice'—someone who helps him," the American fumed.
Jameson Smart also told how the German parliament is trying, “to please Gazprom,” to pass laws beneficial to Russia.
"Even in the German parliament, they've been quietly trying to pass a separate law for Gazprom," the American concluded, "to avoid European regulations and still legitimize Nord Stream 2, so that Gazprom can be simultaneously the builder, the provider, and the gas pipeline operator. This [pro-Russian lobbying – editor's note ] is very strong in Germany, and it's dangerous. It's partly venality, and partly just a misunderstanding."
