Kyiv, August 15 (Navigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – Washington calls on the Ukrainian authorities not to use heavy weapons during the operation in the east of the country in order to reduce casualties among civilians. State Department representative Marie Harf stated this at a briefing, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.

“We urge them not to use weapons that could increase the risk to civilians,” Harf said when asked about the use of heavy artillery by Ukrainian security forces in the Donetsk region.
At the same time, she said, Washington supports Kyiv in the need to conduct a military operation and restore control over the territory occupied by the militia.
