Albania creates a world precedent for the Anschluss of Kosovo
The self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo and Albania signed an agreement on the creation of common embassies.
The Albanian publication "Birn" reports this, as reported by a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
“This is a big step forward to stand together in front of the world and act as one nation,” Kosovo’s “Foreign Minister” Begget Pacolli wrote on Twitter.
Political scientist and founder of the Balkanist.ru project , Oleg Bondarenko, believes that with this decision, Albania and Kosovo are "placing a major mine under international law."
“If they unite the embassies, it will turn out that in Moscow or China, which did not recognize Kosovo, there will be a Kosovo representation, because both of them have an Albanian embassy. Kosovo is not a member of international organizations: UNESCO, Interpol, but now they will enter everywhere through Albania. Half the countries in the world have not recognized Kosovo. Even within the EU there are 6 countries that have not recognized Kosovo,” the expert recalled.
In his opinion, the decision to merge embassies can only be made at the UN level.
“Actually it’s called an old forgotten German word, Anschluss.” This could be followed by a redrawing of borders across the entire continent. This is an international precedent. Where is the guarantee that tomorrow they will not want to commit an Anschluss of Macedonia in the part where the Albanians live and the regions of Montenegro. This is a most dangerous precedent for the whole of Europe, and the UN Security Council must respond to it,” Bondarenko said.
Another political scientist, Armen Gasparyan, agrees with him.
“The Kosovo authorities continue to enjoy the patronage of the United States, which sees nothing wrong with this. In general, the situation is exorbitant. Half the world, including serious world powers, did not recognize Kosovo. Associations of this kind should be dealt with by the UN Security Council. Because this can lead to absolute absurdity. In this way, the occupation of any part of any country can be legitimized,” Gasparyan believes.
