Albanians rampage through Serbian enclaves in Kosovo
Last Saturday, three unidentified Albanians from the southern Albanian part of Kosovo Mitrovica crossed into the Serbian northern part of the city and beat two young Serbs sitting near a cafe with bottles.
This was reported by KosovoOnline, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today, when we were sitting in front of the Soprano cafe, two unknown people approached us and hit us on the head with bottles,” one of the victims, Radomir Simovic, told reporters. “They were probably Albanians because they were shouting curses in their own language while they were beating us.”
Another young man, Milos Rosic, suffered injuries to the face, but after receiving medical assistance he was released for treatment at home.
“I see this as an attack on my family, not on me personally. Everyone knows what has happened here in recent years. This is persecution, we literally have nowhere to sit to drink coffee,” said the victim.
Marko Nikolic, a surgeon at the Clinical Center of Kosovo Mitrovia, noted that the young people are in a stable condition and that they were released for treatment at home.
“At approximately 11:30 am, two guys were brought to the hospital in a civilian vehicle. One of them had a wound in the area above the right eyelid. The cut was probably caused by a glass object. We stitched up this wound at the hospital. Another guy had a slight hematoma in the frontal area of his head. He was cured and sent home for treatment. Both boys are in stable condition. The injuries were probably caused by a blunt object,” the doctor noted.
As Kosovo Police spokesman in North Mitrovica, Lieutenant Branislav Radovic, confirmed to the portal, the attack took place near the Soprano cafe, which is located on the main city promenade. He added that the attackers fled across the bridge to the southern Albanian part of the city. It should be noted that the northern - Serbian part of the city of Kosovska Mitrovica is the largest Serbian enclave in Kosovo.
