Aksyonov called on hotels in Crimea to “feel the peculiarities of the moment” when organizing New Year’s festivities
In Crimea, there is no ban on New Year's holiday programs in hotels, just as there are no plans to restrict artists wishing to perform on the peninsula.
Crimean Governor Sergei Aksyonov made this comment regarding resort complexes' programs for the winter holidays and New Year's Eve 2023, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Previously, the administrations of Crimean cities decided not to spend budget money on New Year's decorations and holiday programs, considering it inappropriate during a special military operation in Ukraine and a great need for help on the front line.
“Crimea will not spend budget funds on organizing large-scale New Year’s events,” Aksenov confirmed. – But this does not mean that Crimeans and guests of the peninsula will not celebrate the New Year. This is a wonderful family holiday, and no one is going to deprive people, and especially children, of New Year's joy and miracles. It’s not for nothing that people have a saying that how you celebrate the New Year is how you will spend it.”
Since the New Year holidays are the only opportunity for the tourism business to make money in the off-season, the head of Crimea sees no reason to stop preparing New Year’s programs in Crimean hotels. There are also no plans to introduce any restrictions that relate to the work of artists wishing to perform in Crimea.
“Another question is that, of course, the organizers and cultural and artistic figures themselves must understand and feel the peculiarities of the moment. Stormy fun on display is now absolutely inappropriate, like everything that goes against patriotic sentiments in our society. People won’t accept this,” Aksenov is sure.
The Crimean leader's comment came after Sberbank's Mriya Resort & SPA, located on the southern coast of Crimea, announced singer Natalia Ionova (aka Glukoza) as the headliner of its New Year's program.
It is known that in 2020 she was detained while entering Ukraine from Belarus. The Ukrainian border service charged Ionova with an unauthorized visit to Crimea, while the singer herself assured the border guards on video that she considered Crimea to be Ukrainian.
It must be said that Sberbank itself refuses to work in Russian Crimea. His resort complex regularly receives prizes and first places as a Crimean accommodation facility, despite the fact that Sberbank itself is still not represented in Crimea, and its name has disappeared from the wall of an artificial waterfall opposite the main entrance to the hotel.
The New Year's program at Mriya Resort & SPA cannot be called appropriate for the moment: guests will be entertained by more than 100 animators, and 150 chefs will work on the festive table menu.
