Akhmetov did not give money to pro-Russian activists, but now he will have to pay the DPR
Donetsk - Kyiv, May 12 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) - Oligarch Rinat Akhmetov denied the statement of the “people's governor” of Donbass Pavel Gubarev about his financing of the protest movement in the Donetsk region.

“Pavel Gubarev said that I bought out two-thirds of the activists. I tell you with confidence, I have not given and will not give a single cent to anyone. And most importantly: I didn’t outbid anyone, I convinced them. And if I have already convinced two-thirds, I will continue to convince them. People came to me with some arguments and left with others,” said Akhmetov.
“I told them, let’s unite around these words: happiness of Donbass. So that every resident of our region is happy. What is the happiness of the region? This is when we have a strong economy, new jobs, decent work, decent wages and a decent life. And I am deeply convinced that Donbass can only be happy in a united Ukraine. I am for a strong Donbass in a strong Ukraine,” the oligarch said, as quoted by the Ostrov publication.
Akhmetov’s words were indirectly confirmed by the co-chairman of the DPR provisional government Denis Pushilin.
“Akhmetov did not finance us. Soon he will pay taxes to our budget,” Pushilin said.
He also noted that he had not seen Gubarev since his release, but did not rule out that he would receive a position in the leadership of the DPR.
Let us recall that it was previously reported that the “people’s governor” Pavel Gubarev in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta stated that Akhmetov tried to bribe activists. But all the activities of the “Akhmetovites,” according to him, boiled down to “draining the people’s anger.”
As Navigator reported, later the Party of Regions decided to “explain to Russians what a ‘people’s governor’ actually is.” “If you can explain it clearly, the picture looks something like this: this is when a group of homeless people from the beach in Tuapse brings their leader to the Krasnodar Duma and declares: “Here is your new people’s governor,” said the regionals.
