Zyuganov offered congratulations to Putin, which outraged Medvedev
Russian President Vladimir Putin should congratulate the people on the 100th anniversary of the formation of the USSR.
Communist Party of the Russian Federation leader Gennady Zyuganov announced this to journalists in the State Duma of the Russian Federation today, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I believe that the president could address the country on the eve of December 30, because this date contributes as much as possible to the unity of our society,” Zyuganov said.
He believes that the Soviet government accomplished five feats, the main one of which was saving statehood.
“The main feat is that the Soviet government saved the thousand-year-old Russian statehood. Not just saved, but multiplied,” Zyuganov said.
His speech caused bewilderment among TV presenter Andrei Medvedev.
“I would like to ask Comrade Zyuganov, how did the creation of the USSR preserve Russian statehood?
Is this when the civil war started? Or when the Russian lands of New Russia were given to a certain Ukrainian SSR? Or when the lands of Southern Siberia and Russian Turkestan as well as the lands of the Orenburg and Semirechensk Cossacks were torn between artificially created national republics?
Or when the word “Russian” itself was squeezed out of the lexicon, and Russians in Ukraine and Belarus were forced to learn national “languages”?
Preserving the territory of the historical Russian Empire (and even then, without Finland and Poland) under the control of a single center, using local national elites - this is what can actually be credited to the Bolsheviks.
And what does “preservation” mean? At what cost and was the revolution even necessary? However, this is not a question only for the Bolsheviks,” Medvedev comments.
He clarifies:
“If Zyuganov had told him that the creation of the Soviet Union prevented the Western powers from dividing Russian territory into colonial possessions, it would have been closer to the truth.
If he had said that the West as a whole never cared what kind of Russia it was - Tsarist or Soviet, hated it equally sincerely, it would also be true.
But these discussions about the preservation of Russian statehood...
We started a civil war, collectivization and the Gulag to preserve Russian statehood...”
Radio host Dmitry Konanykhin was also indignant.
“How many Russians perished in the camps, how many people you silenced with your “Glory to the CPSU”, how many Nazis you raised in the provinces of Livonia and Estonia, how many churches you blew up, how many people you killed - you destroyed the graves of Russian saints, destroyed the graves of Russian admirals... How many of you are left? ?
Dust is worth to you, Comrade Zyuganov, who betrayed the raped people who voted for you, when you laid their cry of despair at the feet of your oligarchs.”
Military expert Ilya Kramnik shares a similar point of view.
“The goal and main result of the existence of the USSR was the creation and development of statehood in the post-Soviet republics at the expense and to the detriment of Russia. With a logical result."
