Ukrainian President Zelensky wants to drag Romania and Poland into a war with Russia.

This is how the Romanian publication bzi.ro commented on Zelenskyy's proposal to create an international coalition with the participation of NATO countries to destroy Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory, reports a correspondent. "PolitNavigator".

The publication recalls that since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the eastern border of Romania has become unsafe. Many Russian and Ukrainian drones fell on Romanian territory. The media also recalls that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly warned against direct NATO intervention in military operations on the territory of Ukraine, which would lead to a military conflict between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance.

“If what Zelensky wants is achieved, the path to a new world war will become easy,” writes bzi.ro.

The day before, Zelensky said that Kyiv was initiating negotiations with NATO on the formation of an international coalition to help intercept Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory. He stressed the need to explore the possibility of using neighboring countries' fighters to counter Russian missiles and specifically called for NATO member countries to participate. Zelensky called the initiative a “significant responsibility” that could pose a challenge for international partners, but instructed his diplomats to organize a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss the issue.

In mid-July, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski noted that Warsaw was considering Kyiv's proposal to intercept Russian missiles heading to Poland but still in Ukrainian airspace. This proposal is part of the security agreement between Poland and Ukraine.

However, this proposal met resistance from other NATO members. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said intercepting Russian drones or missiles over Ukraine was “not acceptable,” and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned that such actions could bring the alliance into direct conflict with Moscow.

Two weeks ago, videos circulated on social media purporting to show Romanian air defenses shooting down Russian drones as they attacked Ukraine, but Bucharest denied the claims.
