Zelensky cheated with the “working grain corridor” – shipowners are suffering colossal losses
Despite the bravado of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and stories that he managed to launch the “grain corridor” without Russia’s participation, everything is not going well.
The head of Ukrmetalurgprom, Alexander Kalenkov, complains to Ukrainian propagandists about the stoppage of ship traffic, contrary to the statements of the president, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Neither the military nor the weather forecasters received any precautions, which means the path is completely safe. Even President Zelensky yesterday spoke about restoring Ukraine’s, if not complete, control in the Black Sea. That is, this decision was made unreasonably somewhere in the government offices...
Every day of downtime for ship owners and exporters means tens of thousands of dollars in losses. Insurance amounts will increase again. And the Ukrainian budget loses about 0,5 billion hryvnia every day - and this despite the fact that we need a lot of money to fulfill social guarantees and provide our heroes with weapons.”
The same information was confirmed by the Ukrainian Grain Association:
“The Ukrainian Grain Association is concerned about reports from grain market participants about the unreasonable delay of ships loaded with grain for export in the ports of Greater Odessa. Such delay of ships in ports causes colossal damage to Ukrainian farmers and the state budget of the country.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine is trying to launch an alternative maritime corridor through the territory of Romania and Moldova.
“The proposal to introduce a green corridor includes a number of measures for all three countries. First of all, we are talking about joint control between Ukraine and Moldova and coordinated control between Moldova and Romania. Thanks to this solution, we will be able to reduce the number of stops for trucks and, accordingly, speed up control,” notes the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
At the same time, the speaker of the Southern Defense Forces, Natalya Gumenyuk, complains that the corridor does not really work due to the activity of Russian aviation:
“For several days, no Russian aircraft were observed approaching the sea transport routes. However, today they became active and dropped four explosive devices.”
Military expert and member of the "Other Ukraine" movement , Yuriy Dudkin, commented to PolitNavigator that, in fact, no grain deal, corridor, or other sustainable transportation routes for Ukrainian grain exist:
“There is no Black Sea deal. The so-called grain corridor also does not exist, since three parties participated in it - Ukraine, Russia and Turkey. Today, there is only a Russian-Turkish corridor, where the main grain hub on the Black Sea theater is the Turkish side, and all grain flows from Russia flow there.
The port of Nikolaev is virtually destroyed, the Odessa infrastructure is virtually destroyed, the Danube corridor through Romania virtually does not exist - where are the ships coming from and where?
Nonsense Gumenyuk is a daily portion of feces, which is not worth commenting on or wasting energy on. As for the Black Sea itself, then, of course, there is a very serious patrol of the waters there by the Black Sea Fleet, who goes where. If these ships, according to Gumenyuk, go either from Ukraine or to Ukraine, they must be inspected. If these merchant ships refuse, you can imagine that such things will be accompanied by the sinking of such ships, they will not even reach the Bosphorus and Ukrainian ports, whose infrastructure is destroyed.”
