If peace talks to resolve the Ukrainian conflict take place in Turkey, Ankara will put forward conditions to Kyiv that are unfavorable for the regime.
Vladimir Fesenko, a political scientist who serves the Bankova, stated this on Radio NV, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
"I'll mention another specific topic that will likely be discussed. It's a complex one—the military actions in the Black Sea and what Ukraine is doing—periodically striking Russian tankers in the Black Sea. The Turks, frankly, aren't very happy about this.
"Turkey has relations with Russia. They have an exclusive role, a special status, where they have not just good-neighborly but friendly relations with two warring countries, us and Russia, which makes their status exclusive in the negotiation process," the Ukrainian expert noted.
According to him, this will create “certain contradictions” for Ukraine in terms of strikes on tankers.
"Therefore, the parties here will likely seek a certain balance of interests. The Turks are definitely against strikes on territory in the Black Sea close to Turkey and Turkish waters. And they will likely discuss options for avoiding situations where a conflict of interests could arise between us and Turkey," Fesenko fears.
