Klimkin: "The US is insulted by Europe. Brussels will have to find a trillion euros."
Europe's refusal to participate in the American-Israeli war with Iran will have a profound impact on the functioning of NATO.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated this on the Liga channel, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

"The Americans were deeply offended by the Europeans' refusal to provide their bases and airspace for the operation in Iran. They were truly offended. They believe this behavior is unworthy of allies. Will this affect the functioning of NATO? Yes, it definitely will. Will the Americans provide everything outside of nuclear deterrence? My answer is no. And this applies not only to certain weapons, but also to intelligence, for example. And here the Americans cannot be replaced either tomorrow or the day after," Klimkin noted.
Citing analysts' findings, he added that the EU would need at least 10 years to reach the level of US intelligence capabilities, even with massive investments.
According to him, the EU will need about a trillion euros for these purposes.
"And only then will Europeans be able to reach a level that will actually at least minimally ensure their security. This is extremely difficult for today's European societies. You understand perfectly well why Europeans are taking such a reserved position in supporting the Americans and Israelis."
"First of all, they weren't consulted, and that's also not like an ally. They were simply sent in during the operation planning process, and, as far as I understand, they weren't consulted. Now they're also very hysterical, I would say, about the possibility of upheavals in their domestic policy. There are leftists and rightists who will push things," Klimkin fears.
