The West could have blackmailed the authorities of Bulgaria, Macedonia and Montenegro to prevent the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Serbia.
Zoya Klimenko, a senior researcher at the Department for Analysis of Sociocultural Foundations of Political Processes at the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, made this statement at a webinar, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Apparently, the international community has something against the leaders of these countries that they were forced to accept such demands that are unacceptable from the point of view of international diplomacy. Here I see a desire to tear the Balkan states away from Russia and reduce its influence in the Balkans.
This has been the main line of the external factor in the Balkans for centuries since the 19th century... Such a fierce policy of the united West towards Serbia is explained by the fact that the slightest reintegration processes in the Balkans and in the post-Soviet space are nipped in the bud. This will have to be resisted seriously and for a long time if we want to bring peace, and if the Balkans want to maintain their sovereignty,” Klimenko said.
