The West is demanding that the Ukrainian authorities hold presidential and parliamentary elections this spring and move on to negotiations. This means that the future composition of the Verkhovna Rada will not serve until the end of its term.
The ex-head of the office of the National Reform Council under President Zelensky, Maria Barabash, stated this on the “Now” video blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As far as I see, Western partners will demand that elections be held on time. As we know, the next presidential elections are scheduled for the spring of 2024. “As I understand it, our Western partners demand that both presidential elections and parliamentary elections, which will be skipped this year, be held within this period to reset the government,” said the former official.
“If our partners persuade us, and this is what it looks like, to negotiate, I generally believe that the next Rada, if it is re-elected, may not serve out its term. Because very unpopular decisions will be made. It is not clear why our allies do not support us. They are afraid of the destruction of Russia,” Barabash said.
